- In my spare time, I like to build simple websites using vendors like Squarespace (not sponsored) for local shops. I do it for free and start off by building the initial layout, then train the owners in changing the sites themselves. I then pass ownership of the site to the owners and remain available if they ever need refreshers or help.
- For my consulting business, I set up WordPress websites and help create scalable and affordable infrastructure setups for my clients.
- I have a PI cluster set up as a home NAS and game server
- Yes, it is slow but it’s also tiny and it looks cool
- I use POE (Power over Ethernet) hats, cables, and a switch for the PIs to cut down on cable management
- I built a simple HTTP server developed from scratch using Python 3 so I can be more familiar with protocol management
- I am currently developing a Web app using React, Node.JS, and MariaDB
- The goal is to build a RPG Pen&Paper web app that allows users to create characters and share them in live game sessions.
- The concept is not new (see D&D beyond, Roll20) but I want to build one that works as a neutral platform that can easily be adapted to multiple rulesets.
- I want something simple to use that automates and abstracts a lot of the crunchy stuff, without a billion features that I never use and without ads.
- I have avoided javascript like the plague for my entire career, but it looks like it’s finally caught up to me and I am now learning it in depth.
- This website
- The site you are viewing was built with WordPress (because wordpress is awesome) and is hosted on a personal VM on Digital Ocean (I like digital ocean’s UI and customer support a lot).
- I used a modified LAMP stack (Linux, NginX, MySQL, PHP+PHP-FPM) to host the site.
- You might think I’d host this on AWS given what I mentioned about my consulting business, but I actually just really love Digital Ocean’s UX (especially for small projects). They also have really great customer support for small businesses or individual consultants like myself.
Goals:
- Acquire more funds $$$
- Build a home lab for Pen testing and recording SIEM setup tutorials.
- Get the CompTIA CYSA and OSCP certifications.
